HF Marine Science Takes the Bait
The Marine Science classes took a field trip to go fishing on the Celtic Quest fishing fleet out of Port Jefferson on Monday October 15. The weather looked bad, but ultimately it only rained a little bit and the winds stayed pretty calm. Many keeper size porgies were caught, including a huge porgy measuring at least 16 inches. In addition to porgies a total of six species were caught including several black sea bass, flounders, toad fish, blackfish, and a puffer fish.
It was a great opportunity to explore the diversity of life found in our local waters.
