Besides all the Oscar buzz surrounding the nominees and winners, there is an (almost) equally exciting portion of the awards show: The fashion! While actresses like Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan didn’t come home with an Academy Award for best actress in a leading role, they definitely could have walked home with an award for “Best Dressed.”
Lupita Nyong’o styled a custom Atelier Versace dress, Alexandre Birman shoes, Niwaka jewelry, and a Versace bag, with Jennifer Garner also wearing a beautiful bright purple Atelier Versace gown with Piaget jewelry. Sally Hawkins, leading actress of "The Shape of Water," which won Oscars for best picture and directing at the 2018 Academy Awards, strutted the red carpet in Armani Privé and Chopard jewelry. Two ladies who rocked the black and golden look are Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior, and Sandra Bullock in her Louis Vuitton and Zac Posen, with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Inspiring female director of “Lady Bird” Greta Gerwig posed a both fun and elegant look with her yellow Rodarte dress and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. HF’s own Sarah Leveque and Olivia Maher agreed to claim that Kendall Jenner’s dramatic black mini dress was their favorite.
As for the gentlemen, leading actor nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Call Me By Your Name”) went white-on-white in a Berluti suit. His co-star Armie Hammer was in a luscious, dark red velvet Giorgio Armani suit with Montblanc cufflinks. “The ‘Call Me By Your Name’ men were definitely a favorite of mine,” says HF senior Erin Tesoriero, although she was not a fan of Emma Stone’s outfit. Jordan Peele, winner of Best Original Screenplay for the movie “Get Out” also styled Montblanc cufflinks in accent to his Calvin Klein suit and Jimmy Choo shoes. Although the ceremony is made to simply celebrate all aspects of filmmaking, an Oscars show is never complete without the Red Carpet Runway Show!
