HF PAGEANT FOR THE BOYS

The Class of 2017 will have another event to look back on here at HF...The HF Pageant! However, unlike most pageants, we will be having the guys in our grade steal the show. On May 30th, twenty boys in our grade will be taking the stage in the auditorium in front of their fellow classmates. Tickets are five dollars for the viewers, but of course participants get free entry.

Upside

This week, Harborfields was given the opportunity to listen in on an assembly from three  members of the group titled “Upside.”  They are titled “Upside” because they like to focus on the positive things that came out of their addictions such as pushing past old problems and meeting each other, rather than the negative sides. While this topic is a hard thing to talk about, it was incredible to see how they were able to overcome their addictions and stay motivated and stay true to their group. The three speakers, Jordan, Trevor, and Samantha all had different pros and different cons to their stories.

MARCH MADNESS VICTORS: CLASS OF 2017

The 2017 March Madness tournament came to an end last Thursday Night, and the Class of 2017 took home the bragging rights. It was definitely a fun night for everyone playing; especially for our DJ Michael Greaves, who by the way, is no match for DJ Fire. We also have our supervisors of the night to thank, and Mr. Taylor for running the event. Lastly, of course, all who played in March Madness and showing their true competitive side deserve recognition for keeping the tournament a tradition at HF.

Jazz Cabaret Night @ OMS

Our Harborfields community holds a lot of different people who have grown to experience different things. Whether you own a restaurant around here, teach in the district, or work at the bank in Greenlawn, adults have different stories to tell. Most importantly, students in the Harborfields District need to listen to these stories, because we need to become aware of the world that was behind us and the one that’s ahead of us.

HF GOES GLOBAL

Harborfields has done plenty of events that have somehow benefited people outside of our community. We are fortunate enough to be taking part in another charity showcase next month. The Global Justice Club in particular will be holding a concert on April 7th, 2017.
Although the school has participated in viewing or performing in the concert in the past, there are still questions that need to be answered regarding the event. For example, who can perform in the concert? How do I sign up? What is fundraising going toward? How much is a ticket? What sort of acts can I do on stage?

FIND YOUR FUTURE! COLLEGE FAIR

There are plenty of students here at HF who are constantly being faced with the question, “Where do you think you are going to school?” Whether it’s a grandparent, a parent, your teacher, or some relative at some random family dinner, the answer is always creative. Most of the time, kids find themselves making up some answer, along the lines of “I seriously don’t know.”For the more confident and advanced students, the answer is, “I am headed to University of Connecticut.” Whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior, Harborfields High School offers an activity here at school that is open for students to help them answer the dreaded college question. Mini College Day this year will be held March 16, 2017.

Happy Heart Day

Is Valentine’s Day all about flowers, chocolates, and romantic dinner dates? Or is there some other significance associated with Valentine’s Day that should be more recognized? The answer is heart disease; not to make a day of love sound like a day of sadness, but this Valentine’s Day, Harborfields is looking to raise awareness for heart disease among women. We want to raise awareness, of course, with a positive vibe.
