HF Hosts College Admissions Night

On Tuesday, April 19th Harborfields hosted a college admissions night. Students from any grade were allowed to attend and get a perspective on different colleges. The event started at 7pm with an admissions counselor from Adelphi talking about the general college process and applications. After that, starting at 7:30 there was a fair with multiple colleges to answer any questions that you have and give you sheets with further information about the school and programs that they offer.

“It was almost overwhelming because there were so many colleges crammed into one small gym and I felt my stress accumulating but i knew it was all for a good reason,” says Kimmy Wilkes, a junior here at Harborfields.

There was a large variety of schools to look at which was a great opportunity for students. We were so lucky to get so many schools that were devoted to discussing important questions and concerns of the students. This can help out a lot in the college process because if you write your name down they will keep that on file. Also, it can help you narrow down your decision on what college you want to go to.

“One thing that i really liked was that i got more information and a one on one conversation with admission counselors and it is a big help for my decision,” says Grace Howard, a junior at Harborfields. Some of the schools that were there included Suffolk, Mercy, Marist, Molloy, FIT, LIM, SUNY Oswego, SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Oneonta, Suffolk, Hofstra, Pace, and many many more.

These college fairs are highly recommended that students attend. Make sure to check on the Harborfields website for more nights like this or in school college fairs. You can also ask your guidance counselor about if and when specific colleges will be coming to school. We hope to see you at many more college fairs to come!
