TJL Lions News

The TJL Lions News Club is new for the 2023-24 school year. The club is run by Michele Turchiano and Christine Collins in collaboration with Vincent Ambrosio and the high school Tornado News Media Program.

The club has a new studio space where students will learn the arts of video production and broadcast journalism, along with the essential ‘soft’ skills of planning, teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration.

Watch the January Superintendent’s Spotlight featuring our TJL Lions News Club, led by Ms. Michele Turchiano and Ms. Christine Collins, which started this year and works in coordination with the HS Tornado News Team to produce news shows and features like this spotlight video, edited by veteran HS media student, Benjamin Oren.

TJL Spelling Bee Inter-SChool Livestream Project

Student producers from the high school’s Tornado News media production program worked with TJL Lions News Club students to broadcast this first-ever student-run live-stream of a TJL event.

High School juniors Ainsley Batsford, Finn Murray, Ben Oren, McKena Sung, and Clara Upston walked over from the high school to mentor the young TJL crew on the essential live-stream production roles: camera person, tech director, graphics engineer, and producer.

It was a great day and the culmination of amazing coordination and articulation between the high school and TJL. Christine Collins and Michele Turchiano have built the foundation for an enriching program at TJL for years to come.
