Sophomore Class Presidential Candidate
Lyla Scagliola
Hi everyone! I am Lyla Scagliola. I was the class president this previous year and got to work with the amazing student government. Class president requires leadership skills, flexibility and a lot of ambition to go out and organize all the fundraisers and events that we do! I believe I can successfully do this for you all, as I was able to help run some of the many fundraisers we did this year.
- I have been working at Jimmy’s Pizzeria in Centerport for a year now which has allowed me to gain amazing communication and problem-solving skills.
- I have 2 years of Student Government experience at both the middle school and the high school.
- I am very involved with school activities such Orchestra, Vocal Ensemble, I participated in this year’s Mock Trial tournament, I play tennis and I am also a member of next year’s Kickline.
- Next year, I want to improve communication and advertisement in the school by joining news team and advocating on the Google Classroom I made this year.
- I would also like to raise money for our class by holding more drink sales during school. For example: our very successful iced coffee, iced tea and Shirley Temple sales. I also want to host online fundraisers for everyone to participate in and I would especially like to connect the grades between more fundraising events outside of school.
I want to help represent you all and create the best high school experience for our class!
Vote Lyla Scagliola to be your sophomore class president this year!

Sophomore Class Secretary Candidate
Edward Aguilar
1) I have been in many leadership positions one of the best examples I can provide is Boy Scouts. As the ASPL I am the second in charge, I have to deal with a little over a dozen fifth graders, so I can deal with some anxiety.
2) I have always participated in lots of activities ran by the school in the district. For example, I have been on the Tennis team, the robotics team, chess club and many more. I’ve been rather dedicated and given lots of time to each one of these.
3) I plan on making sure that everybody in the grade has access to the information of what was reviewed during the student government meetings. I also plan on, redoing the entire organization format in order to ensure that it’s easier for the public to access and for those who are in the student government to access as well.
4) I plan on having a typed out version of everything I was said during meetings in order to ensure that no information gets lost. After all memory doesn’t improve with recollection, it warps.
5) I will be willing to answer any questions about what I plan on doing in office, just ask. I’ll be the one in the suit Friday May 22.

Hi, I'm Julia Schmitt and I'm running for re-election as the secretary of the incoming sophomore class! I have really enjoyed being in the student government and hope I can continue in this position next year. Besides the student government, I play soccer and I have been playing classical and jazz piano since I was 7. In the jazz band I am the pianist and in the orchestra I play the violin. In my free time I have been teaching myself guitar. Other than music, I enjoy running and playing sports, and I babysit. My pastimes have made me into a patient, organized, and focused individual, and I use these characteristics to work with the other members of student government to be successful and help our class have fun events and build a strong community.
Don't forget to vote Julia for Secretary!
