Mr. Wallace: Coach of the Year!
Longtime Head Girls’ Soccer Coach, Scott Wallace, has been recognized by the National Federation of High Schools Sports as its COACH OF THE YEAR!
This is truly an incredible honor for Scott, Harborfields High School and the school district to have this prestigious recognition bestowed upon him.
Scott, who is often referred to as the "Dean of Suffolk County Girls’ Soccer Coaches", has amassed well over 100+ wins throughout his storied career as head soccer coach of the Harborfields Tornadoes (he was recognized by the New York State Athletic Association years ago as a member of the "100 club"). Aside from his stellar win/loss record, Scott is truly an amazing person and professional who demonstrates passion for coaching, being a positive role model to his student athletes, and a dedicated and talented educator to the students in his classroom. His character and integrity are beyond reproach.
Scott has coached many outstanding student athletes throughout his career, many of whom are now adorned onto the "Athletic Wall of Fame". Scott's reputation throughout Long Island soccer is synonymous with many of the great coaching legends who have preceded him. Scott's soccer teams have been recognized on many occasions by the Suffolk County Officials' Association as teams who have best exemplified outstanding sportsmanship and gamesmanship. This is a reflection of the high standards and lofty expectations Scott has for his student athletes. No one is more prepared for the game and life after Harborfields than those athletes who have been fortunate to play for Coach Scott Wallace. Scott is humble and it is never about him. Yet, as I have often said of Scott, "he is truly the master conductor of his orchestra...with poise and confidence he guides, directs, motivates, encourages and then stands back to watch and marvel at his hard work unfold before him".
This past fall season, the girls’ soccer team needed to win their final three games in order to make the playoffs. Under Scott's leadership and the intrinsic ability he possesses in getting his athletes to compete beyond their potential, the team not only advanced to make the playoffs, but eliminated several highly ranked teams in order to compete in the Suffolk County Championship game, an incredible "Cinderella story" to a magical season.
Join me in congratulating our esteemed colleague and friend, Coach Scott Wallace, on this prestigious achievement, honor and milestone to his long and dedicated career. Scott has positively influenced hundreds of students during his years at the helm of the girls soccer program and I know I can speak on their behalf by saying, "great job Coach, well earned and deserved and thanks for everything you have done for us"!
