Basketball Season Recap

As the winter season starts to come to a close, our HF winter sports have come to an end.  Boys’ Basketball has finished with a league record of 3-13 and an overall record of 7-13.  They started off the season strong with a win over H H Hills West with a close score of 51-46.  Then they played their game against Cold Spring Harbor in Nassau Coliseum.  This was another very close game, but the boys pulled away as the game finished with a score of 42-31.

The boys also had a very successful Coaches vs Cancer game.  “What a great night at our Coaches vs Cancer boys basketball game! It was an honor to recognize Kindergarten student Nora Harris and 9th grade student Gavin Tarsio tonight for their courageous battles! They are both warriors and role models for our entire Harborfields community. Thank you to everyone that came out to support them and our program. A special shout out to Stand Up Strong Club President, Kerri Gadamowitz for her hard work, Corey's Promise, @laug_auf and the Mt. Sinai boys basketball program for participating,” says Athletic Director Mr. Franco. Although the team did not make the playoffs this year, they had a good season finishing with 7 wins.

Girls’ Basketball has finished their league with a record of 6-6 and an overall record of 10-9.  They finished 4th place in League V.  They started off the season strong with a win over Elwood/John Glenn.  Two days after this season opening win they won there first away game against Linderhurst by 1 point!  This was a great way to open the season.  They continued to keep on winning throughout the season and clinched playoffs!  On Friday, February 23, 2024 over break the girls competed in the first round of playoffs.  Unfortunately, they came up short of victory, losing to Mt. Sinai 31-49.

It was a very successful sports season HF and we are so proud of how our basketball teams did this year.
