Harborfields High School Hosts (and Wins Awards at) BASH!

On Thursday, May 22nd students from the Harborfields Multimedia Production Academy classes and the Tornado News Team Club HOSTED the Broadcast Alliance for Senior High (BASH) Awards at Hofstra University’s Lawrence Herbert School of Journalism!

Aaron Alonso-Tittmann and Benjamin Oren emceed the event while Luke Ricci worked as Technical Director at the video switch running the stream for the entire event! Harborfields HS took home 2nd place in Best Broadcast 5-10 Minutes and 3rd place for Best School News Package!

Overall, it was an amazing day not only for Harborfields, but for 1000 students and 50 schools from Long Island, Westchester, and NYC!

As the 2025 spring season is upon us, the Harborfields Boys Lacrosse team is looking to make the playoffs again in the upcoming season. In the last 6 years dating back to 2018, the Tornados have made the big dance in 5 of their last 6 seasons. Once again, Harborfields lacrosse is projected to be a top seed in their division and is poised to make a big playoff run.

Ben Shelton is a 22 year-old tennis player who was born in Atlanta, but currently lives in Greenville, Florida. He started playing from a very young age and played for his college team The University of Florida before he went pro. He gained many great tennis titles before even graduating college.

The 4 Nations NHL Face-Off brought together the best level of hockey from Canada, the U.S., Sweden, and Finland, creating a fun to watch international competition that had fans interested worldwide. This tournament provided a great balance of high-level play, nationalism, and intense rivalries which significantly boosted viewership and interest in the sport.

Snowboarding grew rapidly in the 1980s and 1990s, changing the world of winter sports. What started as a simple invention in 1965 by Michigan engineer Sherman Poppen became a global phenomenon. In 1990, Jake Burton bought the patent for the “skiboard,” helping push snowboarding into the public view.

On Sunday at 6:30 pm the Philadelphia Eagles had clinched the Super Bowl after crushing the Washington Commanders 55-23. The evening of 1/26/2025 certified victory in the AFC Championship for the Kansas City Chiefs after edging out a win against the Buffalo Bills 32-29.

It’s now official that after the AFC and NFC championships this past weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will face each other on the Super Bowl LIX, which will kick off at 6:30 PM EST on Saturday, February 9th.

UFC 309 is an event on November 16 at Madison Square Garden at 10 PM.   The main card fights are Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic at heavyweight; this fight will be the main event. The co-main fight will be Charles Oliveira vs Micheal Chandler at Lightweight. The three other main card fights are Bo Nickal VS Paul Craig at Middleweight, Viviane Aroujo vs Karine Silva at women's flyweight, and Mauricio Ruffy vs James Llontop at Lightweight.

 25 hours and 5 minutes was the total length of Senator Cory Booker's speech. He didn’t sit, eat, or use the bathroom. According to NPR, the New Jersey Democrat broke the world record for the longest floor speech in the history of the Senate Chamber, held since 1957, by Strom Thurmond, for 24 hours and 18 minutes.
