Garden of Laughs Charity Event
Madison Square Garden, the world’s most famous arena, holds a yearly fundraiser called the Garden of Laughs. This is a show held in the Madison Square Garden Theatre to raise money for the Garden of Dreams.
The Garden of Dreams is a foundation that makes dreams come true for children that face obstacles in life. Examples are foster care, diseases and illness, homelessness and injury. Players from the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New York Liberty, the Rockettes and people involved in the MSG Network help to brighten these children’s days.
Since 2010, the foundation has helped and funded over 325,000 kids who have faced hardships in life. The MSG company is proud of their commitment to change the lives of these adolescents.
On March 28th, MSG held the annual Garden of Laughs comedy show. They had over six comedians perform including Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Sebastian Maniscalco, Leslie Jones, John Oliver, Bob Saget and many other presenters to introduce these people.
This event alone raised over 2.2 million dollars for the non-profit foundation. The show was exciting, entertaining and a great time for all that attended.
After asking junior Georgia Abrams if she’s ever heard of the Garden of Dreams foundation, she said, “I have never heard of this organization until now. It seems like a really nice charity that more people deserve to know about.”
According to junior Julianna Greene, “I have never been to this event but my mom has gone and she said it was one of the funniest things she has ever been to.”
Hosted by Steve Schirripa, the event ran very smoothly and even better than expected. Many celebrities such as Justin Tuck, Uzo Aduba, Michael Che, Spike Lee and Adam Graves were just a few of the many presenters that introduced the performers throughout the event.
Steve Schirripa stated to a news reporter, “I am so proud that I had the honor of hosting this amazing event. It is for such a great cause that I am so grateful to be apart of.”
This is a yearly event that more people should attempt to attend. It raises money for an amazing cause and is a very entertaining time.
