Cuomo Accused of Unwanted Advances for a Third Time
In recent news, Cuomo was accused of unwanted advances for a third time. This third woman, Anna Ruch, has accused Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo of unwanted advances in 2019, adding to an escalating crisis facing the governor in the wake of two sexual harassment allegations. In 2019, both Ruch and Cuomo were seen at a wedding reception in New York City, at this wedding reception, Cuomo was seen placing his hands around Ruch’s face. Senior Allison Brown stated, “Two now three sexual allegation, I wonder what is in store for him.”
Ruch stated that she thanked Cuomo for his toast to the newlyweds, and in response, she says he put his hand on her bare lower back which was open in an open- back dress. Ruch removed his hands from her lower back, as she felt uncomfortable that he was touching her. He than proceeded to place his hands on her cheeks. Senior Lizzie Kennedy stated, Assuming these allegations are true, I dont get how he continues to make people feel this way.”
After placing his hands on her cheeks, Cuomo asked if he could kiss Ruch. Ruch stated that she distanced herself as he came closer to her. She was confused and shocked that this was even happening. But, she is not the only one who has experienced this unwanted advances from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Senior Maya Salzman stated, “They need to look into these accusations.”
Ruch is the first woman that has made an allegation against him who does not work with him. To me this proves that these allegations need to be investigated further. The other two women -- Lindsey Boylan and Charlotte Bennett -- who accused the governor of sexual harassment were both aides in the Cuomo administration. Cuomo has stated numerous times that he has never inappropriately touched anybody, however, these accusations raise a question whether or not he is guilty.
