The People’s Choice Awards Winners 2020

The People’s Choice Awards aired on November 15, 2020. Talented people ranging from music artists, actors and icons of pop culture were awarded. The PCA’s received over a billion votes this year! With quarantine being a bore, fans looked forward to the award show and looked forward to voting for their favorite people. 

Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga were both nominated for 7 awards, making them the most nominated people of the night. Before E! aired the show, they announced Jennifer Lopez won the Icon Award, Tyler Perry won the People's Champion Award and Tracee Elliss Ross received the Fashion Icon Award.

The movie Bad Boys for Life won for the movie of 2020. The Kissing Booth 2 won for comedy of the year. Actress Joey King, star of the Kissing Booth movies won an award for comedy movie star, winning against Will Ferrell, Pete Davidson and many others. Mulan won the action movie of 2020 and Hamilton the drama movie of 2020. 

Will Smith took home the male movie star of the year award for his role in Bad Boys for Life. Tiffany Haddish from Like A Boss won the female movie star award. 

Grey’s Anatomy won for TV show of the year. The show was up against some iconic shows from this year such as Tiger King, The Masked Singer and Outer Banks. Grey’s Anatomy star, Ellen Pompeo won the female TV star of 2020 for her role on the show. 

Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande won for male and female artists of the year. Megan Thee Stallion had two of her hit songs nominated under the collaboration of 2020 category. She won for her collaborative song with rapper Cardi B.

BTS the South Korean boy group won awards for the song, the album, the music video and the group of 2020. Gaby Bianco, a junior at Harborfields and BTS lover says, “I’m so happy to see them succeeding because I know a lot of people don’t really like them or know of them, so seeing them get so much attention makes me happy because they’re not just some boy group from Korea. They work so hard and promote a bunch of good things like self love and being true to oneself. They have saved so many lives with what they do.”

Emma Chamberlain won social media star of 2020 while up against some well known people in social media such as Charli and Dixie D' Amelio, Addison Rae, David Dobrik and Jojo Siwa. James Charles accepted the award for the beauty influencer of 2020 and Ariana Grande won social celebrity.
