CTC’s Final Chocolate Sale
Your last chance to buy the Career Transition Class’s (CTC’s) famous chocolate was Wednesday, May 21st. CTC partnered with Leadership to sell chocolates at the Spring Carnival, an event that celebrated the end of the year with games and activities. HF’s senior class president, Max Vaughan, said that he loves the CTC chocolate!
The CTC creates small businesses to simulate real-world job experiences. The businesses build the skills you need to work with money and work with customers. At the chocolate sales each month, CTC sells chocolate-covered pretzels, marshmallows, and cracker candy. Cracker candy, saltine crackers with caramel and chocolate, is the most sold product! CTC also has a greeting card business and a dog biscuit business.
This year, students from Leadership helped the CTC make chocolates and sell them outside the cafeteria. Leadership members, Max, Payton, Charlotte, Lea, and more helped with selling the chocolate.
All proceeds from the CTC businesses will be donated to the Nassau Suffolk Autism Society of America (NSASA). The NSASA is an organization that creates an inclusive environment for families impacted by autism. Last year, the CTC raised $1,900.00 through their businesses. Fundraising allows NSASA to provide free social and recreational events for thousands of Long Islanders. NSASA also provides support services so families can participate in events in the community, like workshops and seminars.
We can't wait to see how the Career Transition Class makes progress in the coming years!
