HF Girls' Varsity Soccer’s Promising Season: 3 Freshmen Pulled up and Upcoming Schedule

Following the 2019 preseason tryouts, the HF Girls’ Varsity Soccer Coach has recruited 3 freshmen for the upcoming fall season. After a promising tryout, Ruby Sember, Melissa Neder, and Kristina Hansen were welcomed onto varsity. 

Ruby Sember is a midfielder/defender who plays for East Meadow Soccer club. You may recognize her older sister, Bella Sember who is currently a junior. Bella is also committed to UNC Women’s Soccer class of 2025. Kristina Hansen is an up and coming star goalkeeper who plays for Surf Soccer club. Melissa Neder is a midfielder who also plays for Surf Soccer Club. 

Neder says she is “impressed with the energy that everyone on the team has and with a lot of hard work I think we can go really far.”

 HF Girls Soccer is currently ranked preseason number 9 and is facing a highly competitive conference for the 2019 season.

Recently, they played John Glenn in a hard-fought match which ended in a  3-3 tie. Kristina Hansen made an impressive debut, starting in goal and making a total of 9 saves for the team. Katie Davis (junior) and Riley Dash (senior) scored one goal each in the first half and Gracie Heil (senior) scored a penalty kick in the second half. 

Aiming to make the playoffs, every single game is going to be a battle for the team. Some highly anticipated upcoming matches are against Kings Park, Eastport-South Manor, Shoreham-Wading River, and many more. 

Their next match is home against Port Jeff today at 4:30pm. Make sure to come out and show your support!
