Kickline V. Social Distancing Standards

The 2020-2021 Kickline sesion, will look different from sessions in years past. In order to adhere to social distancing standards, there will be no traditional kickline in any of the dance routines this year. Though this may be a challenging change for the kickline team, it doesn't mean that they still can't have a wonderful session this year!

Due to New York state regulations and social distancing standards, band camp at Farmingdale was canceled. Band camp is where the kickline learns their routines for the halftime show performance, and are able to bond together as a team. Senior and kickline captain, Hannah Proce, says, “Even though we weren't able to have are traditional bonding activities, because band camp was canceled due to the coronavirus, we were still able to get to know each other and do something we love together which is dance.”

Hannah also says that, while dancing the kickline team must try and stay six feet apart from each other at all times. This can be very difficult.

After spreading out twenty girls six feet apart from each other, there isn't much room left to dance. However, kickline captains Hannah Proce and Oliva Frieburger, adapted their choreography to these changes. The choreography allows for the girls to stay in their own space, and not travel across the room.

Even though the 2020-2021 kickline sesion will not be a traditional kickline session, mainly due to social distances standards, the team is determined to make the best out of the situation!
