PTA Reflections Is Back!

It’s that time of year again! The PTA Reflections contest is back again. Every year, the PTSA participates in the National PTA Reflections Program in the months of October and November. Each year, there is a new theme that students must relate their submission to. This year's theme is “I Will Change The World By…”

There are 6 different categories that students can choose to submit their work in. The categories are: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Students are allowed to enter as many submissions as they would like in any of the categories.

The judges of the program are looking for “out of the box” ideas, so students should be creative when expressing themselves in their submissions. Artwork can be submitted digitally or manually. There will be a Reflections Box in the main office of the high school for students who can submit it to a teacher. If you are submitting your artwork digitally, make sure that a completed student entry form is attached. Winners of the contest will be invited to an awards ceremony at Harborfields High School.

All entries are due by Friday, November 12th. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Alfonsa Ferme at  babalucci2@aol.com or at  (631) 678-8161. There is also more information and detailed descriptions of each category at www.nyspta.org or on the HHS PTSA website. Attached is a picture of the flyer for the Reflections contest.

“I think it is a good theme that makes kids think about their future,” said Drawing and Painting III student Sarah Allan. She believes “that there will be a good outcome at the end of the submission process”. Hopefully there will be many submissions and even some national winners from Harborfields High School.
