Harborfields High School Jazz Band
A Day with Thembi Dunjana
On February 26, HF’s Jazz Band played with the invited South African Jazz Artist Thembi Dunjana. As the Jazz Band was practicing until Dunjana arrived, along with the help of Mr. Belawski, they performed in front of Dunjana.
While performing, Dunjana also lent some advice to the Jazz Band students regarding how to make their music better! Dunjana was also accompanied by her Bassist, Tim Norton, who helped the Bass students in our very own Jazz Band.
If you thought that it was over, there was also a historian to explain the history of how Jazz was made and how the independence movement of South Africans emerged through Apartheid. Dunjana and Tim Norton also performed for our Band and Orchestra students here in HF!
Thembi Dunjana and Tim Norton would also perform for the students, their families, and anyone from the community here at HFHS. The concert was an amazingly intimate event where all were thrilled to watch a world-renowned musician perform on our high school stage. The people enjoyed the concert that both Dunjana and Norton performed.
Huge thanks to Mr. Belawski and Thembi Dunjana for all their contributions to us here on this special day here at HF!
