The Life of a Quarantined Student

School last year was hard while being home and doing online. This year we are all back in school, which is great! But, when you get COVID-19 you have to be quarantined. In this article I'm going to tell you how it's like having to be home and doing online work again.

Since this April- this school year I have been doing my work in school rather than online. Once I got back into school I realized how much easier it was to do work in person rather than from my house.

Being home was very hard because many of my teachers don’t use google meet anymore so I would have to do the work by myself without watching the lessons. It’s nice to be able to do the work at my own pace though but sometimes it's difficult to understand what exactly to do.

Being home for a while was not too bad but definitely not ideal. It was nice to be able to just relax and not have to spring out of bed at 7am. When I would get up it would be around 8am and I would sit at my desk for 2nd period and on.

The only periods I had google meets started were 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 9th period. I got a lot of breaks throughout the day which was hard but also nice. Not seeing my friends or family was very weird to me though.

When I told my friends, they were all shocked and they went to go get tested. One of my friends, Madison Cassar said, “Kylee finding out she can stay in for 2 weeks” along with a smile emoji, I'm very much a homebody when I want to be. I wasn't allowed to leave my room without a mask.

When my sister came home from college for thanksgiving break it was so weird. I wasn't allowed out of my room to see her. She wasn't allowed to come near my door as well. It was funny because our rooms are across from each other so she would open her door and I’d open mine and she would say hi.

While I was home, I obviously had a lot of free time to do whatever. I mostly would try to catch up on my school work but when I finished that I’d watch shows. One show in particular that I would watch everyday was Criminal Minds. While being home I think I went through almost 2 seasons.

Fortunately when I got tested again over the weekend it came back as negative, which means they gave me a false positive the first time around. I only had to stay in my room by myself for about 5 days but I was not cleared to go back to school till the following week.
