Pinpointing the Positives

There are always multiple ways to interpret situations that are not ideal. The way you view complications comes with either fixating on the negatives or pinpointing the positives. Due to Covid, I have only had one normal year of high school and I am now a senior. This is obviously an example of an unideal situation that everyone else in Harborfields is still going through.

Many students are tired of wearing a mask and being socially distanced but in the bigger scope of things, we all should realize how lucky we are. Coming to this realization is fulfilled by pinpointing the positives. Just the fact that we all have the chance to go to school, get a great education and that we all get to see each other makes this unfortunate situation a lot easier.

According to senior Nicole Allan, “having a positive mindset and being thankful for what we have can be helpful when following Covid guidelines because it can help us realize that these guidelines are only in place to keep everyone safe. Many of the freedoms that we have when it comes to social situations are because we have followed guidelines all of last year and many have gotten vaccinated.”

We can all only control what we can control. Halting the Covid virus and eliminating guidelines is something that isn’t in our hands, but the way that we think is. No matter how horrible an obstacle is, there is always an outlet to uplift your mood by having an upbeat attitude. Overtime, approaching dilemmas with a positive mindset will lead to having more confidence, inner peace, and overall more success with less stress.
