Christmas Comes Early with the ANGLE Christian Club!

What is that first thing that comes to mind when you think of Christmas? Some people would say family time and generosity, but the majority would say presents! Receiving gifts is part of what makes Christmas so magical. The giddy feeling of seeing presents under the tree and the joy of unwrapping the gifts is such an incredible experience. But, some kids don’t get to experience this due to difficult home situations. That’s why this holiday season, the ANGEL Christian Club teams up with Plainedge Church to help these kids in need. Operation Christmas Child donates gifts to children in foreign countries, overseas. These kids are living in compromised areas, and might not have the chance to receive any presents this year. Mr. McGowan and the ANGEL Christian Club helped to bring this amazing operation to the Harborfields High School.

Throughout the month of November, students donated various different items that could be wrapped up, such as toothbrushes, markers, toys, and clothes. In late November, they spent their afternoon in Mr. McGowan’s room and thoughtfully put together these gifts. Any kid between the ages of 2-14 could now receive presents thanks to these benevolent students! Not only does this project help people globally, it also teaches the students an important lesson. When interviewed, Mr. Gowan states that,  “This really teaches the kids to be thankful for what they have and for being born in this country, but also being mindful that not everyone around the world is as privileged as we are here in the States…”. Overall this project is beneficial to many different groups of people and a great teaching lesson for students! With the holidays approaching, remember to be thankful for all the gifts you receive and keep an open heart for others in your community!
