Long Island Holiday Festivities Guide
With Thanksgiving coming to a close and the rest of the holiday season right around the corner, there are plenty of events going on that are spreading the holiday cheer on Long Island. You can easily celebrate the holidays close to home without the hassle of traveling to NYC and beyond!
For Halloween, Old Westbury Gardens hosts their annual Rise of the Jack O Lanterns festival, but now it’s time to get your reindeer ears on and visit their Christmas holiday houses. With Victorian rooms filled with holiday decor, Santa, cookies and cider, Old Westbury Gardens holiday celebration is fun-filled necessity for the whole family. From December 1st to December 23rd, you can gain admissions with the low cost of $12, and even better, $7 for children 17 and under, or $10 for those over age 62, as well as full-time students with ID.
If you’re looking for some merry and bright nightlife, buy tickets to the Magic of Lights 2018 Holiday Light Show at Jones Beach in Wantagh. This fun festivity will be going on for weeks, so time will be no issue if you want to get into the holiday spirit with this event!
Meanwhile, in the weeks leading up to Christmas, you can buy some holiday goodies at Santa’s Gift Shoppes at the Broadway Mall in Hicksville, with a multitude of vendors to shop from.
If you want to get away from the holiday shopping madness for a couple of hours, maybe seeing a holiday show with the family is your best bet. At The Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts, you can buy tickets to go see “'Twas The Night Before Christmas” or “White Christmas - The Musical.” For more information on ticket dates and prices, you can check out Smithtown’s PAC website at www.smithtownpac.org/.
It is so evident that you can easily celebrate the holidays close to home without the hassle of traveling to NYC and beyond… Now go out and spread that holiday cheer!
