How do We Save Halloween?
Did Corona have an impact on your Halloween? Do you feel it's ruined? If your answer was yes, then I can assure you that many people feel the same way. Experts say Halloween can be saved, as long as we wear face coverings and follow the guidelines and rules. Everyone lost so many things that they looked forward to every year and their whole dynamic of their life changed this year when this rush of Coronavirus hit us. This article was indirect, and showed the importance of all the extra things that Corona affected.
“Can Halloween to be saved? Yes, experts say. Here's How”, by New York Times, stated, “They lost time with friends and teachers at school, their summer vacations and their everyday routines to the Coronavirus”. With the arrival of fall, and cases rising fast among children, another scary specter raised: Would they also have to give up Halloween? We unfortunately will be living this way for a while, since this pandemic is not going anywhere. But we can still have Halloween, as long as you're outside with smaller groups and face coverings.
It's so important to take all the precautions when it comes to this, because of how difficult it is we have to work with what we got. It's also important to take all the precautions always, since coronavirus can spread so easily and it can be spread to many people without them even knowing they have it, which is the scary part.
Even though Halloween won't be the same for young children, this won't ruin it all because we can make the best of it. As long as we follow all the rules and wear face masks, it's better than having no Halloween at all. As much as you want to trick or treat or celebrate Halloween, you have to do it safely following all the rules with Coronavirus so you don't get it or spread it to other people. It's sad it is very different for kids this year, but as long as they are socially distancing and wearing masks no harm is done.
Do we really need to completely stop trick or treating? Some believe yes, and I don't agree with that. I believe no we should still let kids enjoy their Halloween, and still get to go trick or treating. There is the recurring theme of parents saying “no” to everything their kids ask because of Coronavirus. Which isn't good because after this is all over, that's all they will be used to hearing. In addition, “The answer is a resounding ‘no,’ according to experts, but parents and children should know that this year will look different than previous ones.” There are better ways when we can approach the situation rather than just saying “no” since kids are so young and don’t understand.
“Portsmouth, N.H., called off its parade after having considered ‘all options, including a reverse parade, alternate locations, a rolling parade, route changes” and concluding “there is simply no way to keep both the spirit of the parade and participants/spectators safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
This is such a good point, so I'm just wondering who will really follow these rules? Or who will say they will, and still obey them and do what they already had planned with Corona not factored in and the safety required. Parades are huge gatherings, and at this point even being in a group of 10 close people together without social distancing is risky. So just keeping 6 feet distance from each other, and social distancing is always required. So I'm concerned about why these parades are even taking place right now in the first place during a pandemic?
“Even though a mask and distancing mitigate risk, such events can generate superspreaders, placing even more people and families with older persons at risk,” said Dr. Glatter. I find this so important because people think once you have a mask on it protects you from everything, but that's actually not the case. It only helps, it doesn't completely make it not possible for you to get it.
So if you're in a large crowd or next to many people, not social distancing, even if you have a mask on it won't do much. That's why since kids are so young, and don't know any better, the parents need to teach the kids on how to wear the mask properly.
It's the parents responsibility to teach them, also so kids spread good safety habits to other kids. Or else it's not safe for the kids to be together, especially on an occasion like Halloween, because it can spread so easily if someone has it. Half the time people don't wear it correctly anyway, so it's really important to educate people on this. We will make the best from this rough situation we're all living in now.
