Editorial: What Makes Donald Trump The Most Hated President In United States History?
It’s a question that many wonder. Why is Donald Trump hated with such a passion? There’s a list of reasons why someone may hate him.
To start, when he first announced that he would run the presidency in 2016, many automatically took him as a joke. Countless liberal entertainment counted him out before his campaign even started, saying he would never win. Millions of Americans inevitably saw these groups mocking the presidential hopeful, and lots jumped onboard. They slammed him for every proposed policy, and anything that seemed abnormal to be coming out of a politician’s mouth.
This is because Donald Trump is not a politician. He is a businessman. Even in the fourth year of his first term, he still frequently says that he did not run for office as a politician. He took a “no filter” mentality with him while debating, giving speeches, and speaking publicly. This also made people hate him. Some of the things he said were unlike any other president in history.
A more political reason for why people may hate Trump, is his priorities. His main focuses are the economy, as a businessman, and protecting the border. This comes as a difference from the previous administration, which paid more attention to other issues. Due to these issues being different from the ones the previous administration had dealt with, people were bound to criticize.
In 2016, Donald Trump’s major campaign points were his campaign slogan “Make America Great Again”, and to “build the wall”, which supported his stance for protecting the border to keep people from illegally coming into the country and potentially committing crimes.
Most importantly, a huge mass of the public was led to hate Donald Trump for one single reason. His presence in the White House exposed lying, corruption, and bad character inside the United States government. No other president in history has done this. His attitude as a businessman let him, without trying sometimes, expose the true nature of how portions of our government function.
The media, which is often aligned with the Democratic party, has now come up with a highly sophisticated system to censor this information being exposed. Since Donald Trump is exposing details about government officials that the Democratic party and the big tech companies didn’t want you to see, they hid it so you couldn’t see it. Instead, they made him out to be the most racist person ever, who was only in the White House to promote white supremacy.
Now, nearing the end of Trump’s first term as president, people have undoubtedly chosen a side. They either support President Trump, or hate him with a passion. He is unlike any president in United States history. By now, many people don’t support him solely because he is Donald Trump. They can’t fathom how he possibly ever won the presidency. That’s why the election in 2020 is one of the most crucial in history. It will show how many people actually hate Donald Trump. His haters certainly make themselves known, but his supporters usually don’t. The theory of “the silent majority” will be tested.
