The City During the Christmas Season

The City during Christmas is well known and popular. There's so many things you can do in the city during Christmas time. For example you can go see the Rockettes, the Rockefeller Christmas tree, you can go see the window displays, go ice skating right, see the tree, and many more.

The first way New York City kicks off Christmas is during the Thanksgiving day parade. At the end of the parade at Macy’s, they show Santa on a sleigh with his reindeers.

The Radio City Rockettes are well known for their dancing. When you go see the Rockettes, they put on many different outfits and performances. My favorite act of the Rockettes would be when they are toy soldiers.

These shows are not just dancing though, they have an act where they are showing baby Jesus, they have camels and donkeys walking across the stage. They also give you 3D glasses and make a 3D part of Santa flying throughout the city to get to Radio City.

The Rockefeller Christmas tree is also a very popular activity to take part in when visiting the city. There are many crowds leading up to the tree but you can get by them.

This tree is huge, it's so decorated and you can see it very easily. My sister, who goes to college in the city, said, “I saw the tree lighting, it was very fun to go to.” Under the Rockefeller tree you can see there is an ice skating rink. You can ice skate here. Although it will probably get very crowded, it still seems like a good family activity and definitely something to remember.

Another place you can go with your family is Bryant Park. Bryant Park has a lot you can do there during this time, there are many shops, places to eat and an ice skating rink as well.

The light show is also very cool to take a look at. This light show is right by the tree and Radio City. To get specific, the light show is on Saks Fifth Avenue.

Something that's not really a Christmas special is the top of the rock. This is where you get to go to the top of a building and look down. You can see almost the whole city from up there. The top of the rock is right next to Radio City as well.

If you decide to go into the city during Christmas, make sure to wear a mask because it tends to get very crowded everywhere you walk, especially at these locations. It's like shoulder to shoulder.
