The 2021 Gotham Awards
The 31st annual Gotham awards were held on November 29th, fully in-person whereas last year it was hybrid. The Gotham awards are independent film awards. Many celebrities, filmmakers and actors appeared at the award show. In this article I'm going to talk about some of the winners and nominees.
An honorary person who won is Maggie Gyllenhaal, she won 4 Gotham awards including best feature film. Gyllenhaal also won breakthrough director and best screenplay for her directorial debut, Olivia Coleman had also shared this award, outstanding lead for performance with Gyllenhaal.
Some stars including Kristen Stewart, Tessa Thompson, and Dakota Johnson all walked the red carpet. To get into the Gotham Awards it was required to have the vaccine or a negative COVID-19 test.
Other popular actors that attended can include Lee Jung-jae, Jung Hoyeon and Hwang Dong-hyuk from popular Netflix series Squid Game.
All of the nominees and winners were chosen by juries for the Gotham’s. In some of the categories they elected multiple winners. Colman and Faison both won the same award out of 10 nominees.
Some other winners of the Gotham Awards can include Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s film “Drive My Car”, another person would be Jonas Poher Rassmussen’s “Flee”. Some of the nominees for Best International Feature can include Andreas Fontana, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Joanna Hogg and many more.
