We all know the song Driver’s License. I know you have listened to it before. Whether you heard it on the radio, secretly played it off apple music and jammed out, found it through Tik Tok or other social media platforms. Let’s just say it was everywhere for a while and it still is.

You may just know Rodrigo from Tik Tok or the radio, but she actually has had an acting and singing career before this! She has starred in several shows and movies from a young age. You may have seen her on Disney channel playing “Gabriella” in Disney’s new High School Musical spin off series?? Well, it honestly depends on how old you are, because she has starred in shows geared more towards younger kids so it would be understandable to not be overly-familiar with her other works.

Her new song, Deja Vu came out last week and it has proved to people across the world that her last hit song, Driver’s License, was NOT just a one-hit wonder. The new song, Deja Vu, which also talks about a past relationship of hers has topped the charts on apple music, spotify, platforms all across the world.

While the initial hype around Rodrigo’s first song has died down, It is definitely still there. Rodrigo first previewed her song, Drivers License, in a viral Tik Tok video of hers where she played the piano and sang the chorus. From there, her audience only has increased. The video racked up millions of likes and after hearing how much people loved it she released. It was the first song of her upcoming album and needless to say, I think we’re all obsessed.

Right off the bat, if you listen to drivers license, it’s very clear that the song is about to break up. That was really hard for Rodrigo. She specified that in the first Tik Tok of her singing the song that went viral. Since then, things have continued to speculate who exactly it was about. And as you can imagine, fans were able to figure out very quickly. By the time this song came out, fans were able to pinpoint the guy she was singing about, Josh Bassett, and his new girlfriend, Sabrina Carpenter. This goes to show the lengths fans will go to know more about their idols lives. 

Rodrigo has never really confirmed or denied the claims about Joshua Bassett and Sabrina Carpenter. She has always kept things relatively vague for the world to decide for themselves. She seems to keep her life on the down low, despite being open about her feelings in her songs. Not only just for that, she also just doesn’t want to catch herself in hot waters upsetting the newly involved pair or getting involved in drama. For Rodrigo, it seems like it is better to say nothing and let her music speak for itself and be interpreted how we see fit.
