Is the new “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series worth the hype?

The long-awaited “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”, original television series is finally on Disney Plus, and people wonder if it is worth watching. Is it worth the hype? Let's break it down into categories…
For starters, let us analyze the actors. Just watching episode 1, you could tell that the actors are perfectly fit for their roles. Walker Scobell, who plays the lead role of Percy, is an well-rounded actor. He isn’t new to the acting industry, but he’s honestly killing it. Some other actors on the other hand, like the actors who play Annabeth and Luke, are receiving some negative feedback. But personally, I think that they are doing exceptionally well in the parts they were given.
Next, the graphics. The way it usually goes with the new Disney Plus series’ is that the graphics are becoming worse and worse with each new series they put out. But, this show is an entirely different story. The graphics are exceptional, even just referring to the battle with the Minotaur early in the story. To me, the green screens and SFX really make or break the show. The green screen is really clean and I really didn’t see any mistakes.
And finally, the writing. I think that this show has the advantage in this category, mainly because Rick Riordan, the author of the novels, is one of the main producers and scripters of the show. So, not much is different from the books to the series, which made fans more excited to watch the series. Yes, some subliminal changes have been made to the storyline, whether that is just to keep the show flowing, or to keep it PG.
Overall, I would rate this show 5/5 stars and definitely gets a “fresh” rating on the rotten tornadoes scale. I definitely would recommend it to anyone who is interested in Greek mythology, or anyone who is an OG fan of this series! Keep an eye out for more episodes to be released soon!
