Black Monday is Back

Warning: Black Monday spoilers ahead!

Showtime’s Black Monday is back! Season 3 premiered last Sunday on May 23rd. After the shocking season 2 finale with Blair becoming Congressman, Mo being shunned from Wall Street and Dawn confessing to being the mastermind behind Black Monday stock market crash and subsequently being jailed, the main crew was in a bit of a mess.

Season 3 shows Mo now running a Jazz label while trying to get Dawn out of prison, Blair struggling in his new position as Congressman, and Dawn thriving in her life as a prisoner.

This first episode keeps its usual comedic tone with great moments from actors Don Cheadle, Regina Hall, Andrew Rannells and Paul Scheer. By the end of the 30 minutes, Dawn had been released from prison, Mo is making plans to propose to Dawn and the final seconds went out with a bang -literally- with Blair being shot at a press conference. 

Senior Isabella Mule says, “I was not expecting the episode to end like that. The show really kept me on my toes with the comedic atmosphere throught the episode and then the abrupt attempted assassination scene. This premiere reminded me that anything can happen on this show.

This season has been branded as a ‘murder mystery’, so Blair’s assassination attempts seems to have kicked off this season of spilled blood. 

Black Monday airs Sunday nights on Showtime at 10pm.
