What to Expect for Super Bowl 55

Super Bowl 55 will take place on February 7, 2021 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be facing the Kansas City Chiefs.

This is the second time in a row that the Chiefs will be heading to the Super Bowl. Last year, the Chiefs defeated the 49ers. The Chiefs had a score of 31 and the 49ers who had a score of 20.

On January 24, 2021 the Buccaneers played in the N.F.C. championship game and beat the Green Bay Packers, 31-26. The Chiefs played in their third consecutive A.F.C. championship game and defeated the Buffalo Bills, 38-24.

Scott Stump, a news article writer for TODAY, said in an article, “For the first time in Super Bowl history, the game will feature the winning quarterbacks from the last two NFL champions going head to head. The Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes was the MVP of last year's Super Bowl victory, while the Bucs' Tom Brady won his sixth Super Bowl with the New England Patriots two years ago.” This is crazy to think about. Two of the best NFL players will be facing each other in this year's Super Bowl.

This year’s halftime show will be played by Canadian singer-songwriter The Weekend. The singer said in a news release, "We all grow up watching the world's biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position. I'm humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year.”

Last year’s halftime show was played by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, with guest singers J Balvin and Bad Bunny. The National Anthem this year will be sung by Country Music star Eric Church and R&B star Jazmine Sullivan. Singer-Songwriter, H.E.R. will be singing “America the Beautiful”.

The Super Bowl kickoff will start at 6:30 p.m. EST on CBS, and will be streamed for free on CBSSports.com, the CBS Sports App and on CBS All Access
