The New Xbox Series X and S
Xbox is releasing 2 new Xbox consoles, the Xbox series X and the Xbox series S, on November 10. The Xbox X costs $500 and the Xbox S cost $300. Pre orders started on September 22. It has been 3 years since Xbox released their latest Xbox, Xbox one X.
The Xbox X features ray tracing, a fast resume function, and a “smart deliver” feature. The “smart deliver” function allows free next generation upgrades for owners of the Xbox one. This new console contains a disc drive and it is capable of up to 4K and 120 FPS.
The Xbox series S contains no disc drive. Unlike the Xbox X, the user will only be able to buy the games on the console, and won’t be able to use a physical disc on the console. Compared to the Xbox series X, the series S is less powerful, but it is still capable of 1440p at up to 120 FPS, and still has 4K upscaling. There will be many new games set to release for the new Xbox, such as: Halo Infinite, Fable, State of Decay 3, and many more.
The New Xbox X and S both have similar features to those of the Playstation 5 and Playstation 5 Digital Edition. Mike Isaac from NY Times said, “... the Series X has many similarities to Sony’s new PlayStation. They both include solid-state drives, a storage technology that loads games faster than traditional spinning hard-disk drives.” Sony and Xbox now have competition to see which console is better.
