Will Mario & Luigi: Brothership Sink or Float Above the Expectations?

A few months ago a new installment to the Mario & Luigi series was released. Mario & Luigi: Brothership was released on November 7th last year.

The gameplay is similar to its predecessor’s in the Mario & Luigi games. The gameplay consists of exploration, puzzle solving, turn based combat and doing quests for NPC’s.  On top of that a new mechanic called “Luigi Logic” was added where if you press a specific button you can control Luigi and pick up items or do things that were unreachable before.

Now that you know what the general gameplay is, you’re probably wondering “What is the story like?” Well I’m glad you asked, reader!  The story starts off in the Mushroom kingdom on a random day, when a portal opens up and transports all of the inhabitants including Mario, Luigi, Toads, Princess Peach, Bowser and others. Once Mario and Luigi reunite in Concordia they befriend a Wattanist, Connie who reveals the land of Concordia was once a single continent connected by the Uni-Tree and the energy of the Connectar up until a dark force destroyed it. Now Mario and Luigi have to reunite the land and uncorrupt it.

That’s all you need to know without me spoiling the actual game or the rest of the plot. Now you’re probably considering either buying it or not. All aspects of the game are fun and interesting, so I would recommend buying it if you like the Mario & Luigi series or RPGs. That’s another review from me! Thanks for reading!
