Holidays 2020

The holidays are usually the best part of Winter. The part that everyone looks forward to and can’t wait for. Unfortunately, this year, the holidays weren’t what they used to be. With the way the world is running, it wasn’t really possible for people to see their families safely and be able to enjoy spending time with them.

Even if some were able to see their families, staying safe and protecting them wasn’t easy. With that came more stress than the holidays needed. After speaking with some other students, it seems most people have the same outlook on the holidays, that they wish it could’ve been different. Adelaide Kline had said, “The holidays weren’t the same. I guess I expected this in some way but I thought maybe by now things would be easier”. Which most people would probably agree with, as the past year just seemed to get worse and worse.

Covid numbers are going up in the past month greatly, and people seemed to think that this would be over by now, when in reality it seems like it’s only getting worse again. After speaking to my brother, Sam Puccio, and some of his college roommates, they had said, “We just want to go back to school. Being home for this long again isn’t what we wanted. Hopefully the vaccine will be mandatory for college students”. Most people just seem to hope that the vaccine will come in and fix things as much as it can.

This year has brought about some of the most stressful times anyone has ever seen. No one ever thought it would last this long all the way through the holidays. Brenna Dorsam had recently said, “I think the holidays are the main reason cases went up, and it would’ve been a better idea for schools to close for a week or two to stop the spread”. Which makes perfect sense, as we see how schools are a big source of the spread of cases, and closing for a short time would’ve slowed the spread.

Hopefully by next year things will be easier. The vaccine is on it’s way, and soon enough maybe we can go back to a somewhat normal world.
