New Year's Resolutions 2021
Every year, people all over the world set new goals for themselves when the clock hits midnight on January 1st. Many people hope for a positive change, whether it has to do with health and fitness, money, or even learning new things. An article from Go Skills has a list of the most common New Year’s resolutions that many people share. 2020 was definitely a stressful year and this year, everyone seems to want the same changes.
This year, many people have chosen to exercise more or lose weight as their New Year’s resolution. I don’t know about you, but during the time where Covid-19 peaked in the spring, I spent a lot of time sitting either on my bed or on my couch watching some good old TV snacking on some pretzels or chips, or maybe even some cookies I made out of boredom the day before. I’m sure I was not the only one who did absolutely nothing over quarantine. After so long of doing nothing, get up and do something! Some easy things to do to get some exercise during the day is you can go for a walk around your neighborhood and maybe if you feel up for it, add a little run in there to get your heart pumping. Also if you have some free time and you are not part of a gym, there are so many at home workouts you can do in your own living room! An article by Healthline has so many exercises you can do at your own home. Simple things like these can go a long way if you stick with them.
Another common New Year’s resolution is to live life to its fullest. In 2020, we were very limited to what we could do during the day. Many places were closed and it was strongly encouraged to keep your distance from other people. Although we have started a new year, that does not mean Covid disappeared. Everyday we still have to take precautions and wear masks and maintain social distancing, but more options are available for people to do now that we are almost a year into the pandemic. More shops and restaurants are opened and many outdoor activities are available to do. We should all make the best out of this terrible situation and find the light in this darkness. An article by Gaiam states many ways to live in the moment. To make the most of the time you have, you can also take pictures to capture the moment and so you can have those memories forever. Spend these times with people you love and truly care about. Stay off devices to take in what is going on around you and so you don’t get caught up in unnecessary drama that can ruin your good time. Most of all, be sure that while you are doing this, you are staying safe and healthy and Covid NEGATIVE.
Although this year has been stressful or everyone, it is a new year which means it's time for a new you! Take a second to appreciate what you have and what life has given you and start making positive changes. I think we can all agree that all of our New Year’s resolutions are for Covid-19 to go away! Even though it may take a long time for that to happen, we have to wait it out and be patient. Cheers to a happy and most importantly healthy 2021.
