Thomas Fire Rages On
There has been a constant battle trying to control the outrageous fires in California. As it continues to spread, it has grown to be more than the size of New York City, destroying everything in its path.
The “Thomas Fire, “ as it is referred to, have been putting firefighters to work, constantly slaving day and night, trying to contain the inferno. According to CNN, “The inferno threatens Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Summerland, Montecito and surrounding areas…”
The climate of California isn’t helping the situation either. The low humidity and powerful wind gusts are promoting the spread of the Thomas Fire even more. It has been approximately ten days since the fire started, and has yet to be successfully contained.
Residents have already been evacuated, and many are left without a home to stay in for the holidays.
Senior Christina Abeltin shared her thoughts on the situation, “It is so sad to hear about people having to leave their homes because of this fire. I can’t imagine what they are going through.”
Hopefully, in this battle against the Thomas Fire and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the fire will claim is loss soon.
