An Egg Beat Kylie Jenner for the Most Liked Picture on Instagram

Yup, you read that right. On January 13th, 2019 a picture of an egg beat Kylie Jenner for the most liked picture on Instagram. Before this, Kylie Jenner held the record for the most liked post with 18.3 million likes. This was the first picture she shared of her daughter back in February, 2018.

Student Milena Albertson says, “I’m actually not surprised that the egg got more likes because when the internet bands together to do something they can usually succeed.”

In just one week, this normal, everyday egg was able to receive over 40 million likes. On January 4th, the account called @world_record_egg posted a picture of an egg with the caption, “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this!”

And wow... the amount of attention this lil’ole egg has gotten is insane, from everyday personal accounts to famous stars, everyone was posting about this egg. The egg has now become the best thing to happen so far in 2019 (in my opinion).

Though conspirators think otherwise. Some people believe this egg is a distraction from what is happening in the world- and more specifically America- right now. This government shutdown is getting out of hand and its obvious some people are getting nervous. How better to distract the everyday majority than with a wonderful egg who just wants to be the most liked picture on instagram. If over 40 million people can come together to make an egg’s dream come true, what else can we do?
