Be Aware
Leaders all across the country are sounding an alarm for upcoming Corona virus cases. We all saw it coming. This coming surge is crucial to be taken seriously. Many people are beginning to believe that they are bigger than the virus but there is more to it that most don't know.
Senior, Allison Brown stated, “I have heard so many stories about people losing their taste buds which is so scary.” The cases are especially rising in New York, there are currently outlines of the zip codes that are hot spots for this virus.
Senior Lizzie Kennedy stated, “We must stay aware.” If we continue doing what we have been supposed to, we should be fine. Follow the laws. Stay socially distanced, wear a mask and follow the public health guidance. There are so many resources to use if you have any questions. Leading health officials including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, have also warned that the US might see a very challenging fall and winter this year.
They say cities and counties should prepare by keeping safety measures and guidelines in place. Senior, Maya Salzman stated that “This is something that has been in the back of all of our minds for awhile now.” However we are still in the first wave, knee deep. It's up to us as a state to follow the guidelines given to us and take this seriously. This is not the time to act like this virus does not exist anymore, because if we act like this it will only get worse.
