How Will A Covid Vaccine Affect Pregnant Women?

Ever since the outbreak of the coronavirus scientists and doctors have been searching for a vaccine, there have been many trials but none on pregnant women.

According to the article, “Will Coronavirus Vaccines Be Safe for Pregnant Women?”, “The first step is really to see how people respond to the vaccines currently being tested, with a particular focus on healthy women who are of childbearing age but are not pregnant”. Doctors don't want to test the vaccine on pregnant women because they don't want to put the unborn child and mother in harm's way.

All those chemicals may cause birth defects or brain damage. If the people respond well to the vaccine with no major side effects then the doctors can decide whether or not pregnant women should receive the vaccine.

The article also states, “If the virus presents a major risk to pregnant women, then it's possible that pregnant women might be offered a vaccine sooner”. In other words if the virus affects pregnant women worse then they will be prioritized.

The virus affects people in many different ways. Some have major symptoms and have to be hospitalized, and some people could be walking around with it and not even know.

Scientists are trying everything to help stop the spread of COVID-19. They are being pressured by the government and society to get a vaccine out but they need more time. More tests need to be done to let the people know the side effects and if it's safe for pregnant women.
