Embracing the joy of summer

Do you want more summer freedom and endless possibilities? Imagine if school days were shorter and summer vacations were longer. I will give reasons why a shorter school day and a longer summer break could bring benefits to students, teachers, and families.

Rest is extremely important in the average person.  Longer summer vacations provide students with the chance to relax, and explore their activities outside the classroom. It allows them to take a break from the daily routine, reducing stress and achieving a better mental well-being.

Even on a longer break you still learn something new every day.  With a longer summer break, students have more time to engage in learning. They can pursue internships, attend educational camps, or travel to new places and have amazing experiences. These real-world encounters can deepen their understanding of various subjects.

Family bonding is a vital activity in the average person.  A longer summer vacation allows families to spend quality time together, strengthening their bonds and creating lasting memories. Whether it's a road trip, a beach getaway, or simply enjoying backyard barbecues, you will always have a good time with your family.

On a break, sometimes you want to keep to yourself, and that is totally okay!  Personal growth is also extremely important.  Shorter school days provide students with extra time to explore their hobbies and interests. Whether it's playing sports, painting, drawing or learning a musical instrument, these extracurricular activities have great creativity and passion.

A shorter school day can also benefit teachers. It allows them to have dedicated time for professional development, quality time with colleagues, and curriculum planning. This, in turn, betters their teaching skills and ultimately benefits their students' learning experience.

In a world where academic achievements are vital, it's essential to recognize the importance of balance and personal growth. A shorter school day and a longer summer break can provide students with the opportunity to rest, explore, and pursue their passions outside the confines of the classroom.
