If You Could go on a Vacation Right Now, Would You?

Although we are trapped in this corona filled world, the thought of going on a vacation crosses my mind most days. Whether it is sitting on a beach with my family and friends both happy and tan from the hot sun. Or traveling the streets of Europe with my grandma again, I would do just about anything for a good vacation. Would you?

People don't seem to be taking vacations, which is good for the health of our country, but I bet most people would love one. A senior at Harborfields, Adleaide Kline, has recently talked about this topic with me. She had said “I just wish I could be going on my annual trip with my family. We went to Turks and Caicos last year, and to be back there would be the best thing right now.” Most people would agree with Adelaide on this for sure.

Celina Cassar, a student at Fairfield, who is a sophomore, is home right now due to COVID-19. I spoke to her recently and she had said that “At this point, a vacation might be the only thing that would help people feel normal again. Although we would still be wearing masks, at least we could be in a different location for once.” The thought of risking COVID for a good vacation seems to be something people are willing to risk.

A student here at Harborfields, Dean Bouchard, had said, “I want to go to the Bahamas. I would bring close friends and family and I would risk corona since my immediate family isn't at the higher risk that others are. I just really want to get out of here for a while, and I haven’t been to the Bahamas yet”.

People don’t realize how much they rely on things like vacations and being able to get away from where they’re from for a while. I know I took them for granted, even just going on a road trip out of state would be nice right now.

Everyone is just patiently waiting for this to all be over. Some normalcy would be nice right now, and I think it would start with a good vacation. “The new normal” has trapped us into this world where we are afraid to go see our own relatives. For many families, this is extremely difficult, and the thought of it being over is the only thing on their minds. Hopefully, we can all have a vacation soon, no matter how big or small.
