So much Disney+ Content!!
If you’re a Marvel or Star Wars fan, you are in luck. After a very dry year content wise for Disney, the company has made up for it with some very exciting projects coming our way in the upcoming years. On Thursday, December 10th, Disney not only announced a plethora of new projects but also released trailers and sneak peaks of some of the shows that we have been waiting for since November last year. Last Thursday, the highly anticipated shows, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki finally dropped their first trailer along with WandaVision dropping their second trailer. The internet immediately exploded with people already creating theories and analyzing the videos. The fandom had gotten pretty quiet throughout 2020 due to the lack of new content but Thursday provided a rebirth for Marvel fans which was very refreshing to see. Senior, Sophia DiPrima says, “I have been waiting for Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki since they were announced back in 2019, while I was sad that the production was pushed back, the trailers look absolutely amazing and it will definitely be worth the wait!”
Also released has been some behind the scenes footage and photos from the Disney+ show Hawkeye, a show following the life of Hawkeye, with Jeremy Renner reclaiming his role as Hawkeye and the role of Kate Bishop being played by Hailee Steinfeld. Needless to say, Disney is seriously going all in to provide Marvel fans with new and exciting content in the upcoming years. This also included the announcement of a second Captain Marvel movie, a She Hulk series, and a mysterious new show about a vigilante called Moonknight. Not to mention the return of the loved Nick Fury in the series Secret Invasion, and even a series called I am Groot and a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Senior Jenna Foresitero says, “I can’t believe how much we’re getting in regards to Marvel content, Marvel definitely feels different now after Avengers: Endgame, however with the announcement of all these shows I’m feeling hopeful for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!”
Taking a step back from Marvel, the future for Star Wars is also looking quite promising with Disney announcing nine new shows following the franchise. After the success of the Disney+ show The Mandalorian, Disney knew it could follow that wave and has announced several new shows, some of which even take place within the timeline of The Mandalorian like the newly announced, Rangers of the New Republic, while others start completely new stories. The list included a show about the much loved Ahsoka Tahno, who fans absolutely adore in the animated show The Clone Wars and she even made her first appearance in The Mandalorian this year in the episode “The Jedi.” Disney also announced that Hayden Christensen, the actor who played Anakin Skywalker in the prequel series, will be reclaiming his role as Anakin in the upcoming Obi-Wan Series also featuring Ewan McGreggor. Despite the mixed reviews the prequel series receives, many fans are looking forward to seeing this duo back on the screen again! Junior, Anna Perz is one of these fans, “I feel like even though the prequels weren’t my favorite, the dynamic between Obi-Wan and Anakin is something I loved to watch and I’m very excited to see how they add on to their relationship in the upcoming series.” There are also going to be some new animated Star Wars shows including, The Bad Batch, and even a Star Wars anime called Visions. Lastly on the list of new Star Wars content is a TV show called Andor, based on characters from the 2016 stand alone Star Wars movie: Rogue One.
With all these new shows coming out over the next three years, Marvel and Disney fans are in for an awesome ride. The worlds millions of people around the world enjoy so much are being expanded on. Personally I could not be more excited for all the upcoming content we will be receiving.
