Pro Bowl Recap

The NFL 2020 Pro Bowl took place this past Sunday in Orlando Florida.  The AFC plays in a friendly game against the NFC. These teams consist of the best players in both conferences. This year the AFC bested the NFC 38-33.

The NFC was led out by future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees. Russell Wilson was supposed to start the game but Wilson deferred the start to Brees. Drew Brees had a remarkable season becoming the all time passing touchdown leader. On the second drive Brees connected to Michael Thomas, who was his number one target this season, for a 16 yard touchdown pass.

On the AFC side MVP frontrunner Lamar Jackson started at the quarterback position. Jackson had a record setting season passing Michael Vick for the most rushing yards by a quarterback. He led the Ravens to a 14-2 season. Mark Ingram who is the running back for the Ravens also played in the game right next to Lamar. Lamar went 16-23 for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.

After Brees left the game for the NFC Russell Wilson came in to play quarterback. Wilson threw for 98 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wilson completed his first touchdown pass to Amari Cooper for a 6 yard touchdown reception.

On the next drive Lamar Jackson marched down the field and completed a short 3 yard touchdown pass to TE Mark Andrews. Jackson liked throwing to his big target throughout the season. Andrews and Jackson had very good chemistry throughout the year. He had 64 receptions, 852 yards, and 10 touchdowns.

The NFC turned over the ball on downs and the AFC got it back. Deshawn Watson came into the game in the second quarter. Watson had a very successful first half leading two scoring drives. He completed a 13 yard touchdown pass to TE Jack Doyle of the Colts.

After the NFC was forced to punt Watson came back on and drove down to put the AFC into field goal range. Kicker Justin Tucker of the Ravens nailed a 50 yard field goal to extend the AFC lead.

In the third quarter quarterback Kirk Cousins came in for the NFC. Cousins had a good year with the Vikings with a record of 10 wins and 6 losses. Cousins came in clutch during the NFC Wild Card game taking down Drew Brees and the Saints. On his first drive he connected to Devonte Adams for a 13 yard touchdown pass.

On the other side Ryan Tannehill came into play qb for the AFC. Tannehill, who was a backup until Mariota went down, made an unbelievable turnaround in his career. He led the Titans all the way to the AFC Championship, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. Tannehill came into the game and connected to DJ Chark from the Jaguars for a 60 yard touchdown.

Early in the fourth quarter the Kirk Cousins was sacked for a 9 yard loss by Calais Campbell of the Jaguars. Cousins Fumbled and it was recovered by TJ Watt on the AFC 18 yard line and returned for an 82 yard touchdown.

Cousins came back onto the field and drove down to complete a 4 yard pass to Devonte Adams for an NFC Touchdown. They went for two but failed due to Cousins being sacked.

The AFC took this year's Pro Bowl by a score of 38-33. The game was high scoring but not very physical. Usually players will not be very physical to avoid injury but this year was almost like a flag. Rey Soto Said, “Although there wasn’t much contact it was still a very high scoring and fun game to watch.”
