Was it the right decision to fire Robert Saleh?
Robert Saleh has just been fired from the New York Jets after over 3 seasons of being the Head Coach. But was that the right decision? This news came on Tuesday morning after Jets owner Woody Johson fired him and made Jeff Ulbrich the Interim head coach.
This comes after The Jets started their season 2-3 with a shocking loss in week 4 to the Broncos. When Saleh first became Head Coach he promised multiple championships and a bright future. Since then, He has had 0 playoff appearances and a 20-36 record in 3 and a half seasons, making it the worst in The Jets history. The Jets also have a 13-year playoff drought which is the longest current drought in the NFL.
After being fired Saleh said he was, “grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many incredible people.” He also said, “To all of the players, I truly love and appreciate every single one of you. The character of the men in the locker room made coaching you guys the ultimate privilege. Through all the ups and downs, each and every one of you showed up every day and attacked every moment. To my fellow coaches and staff, it has been an honor to work with all of you. Every one of you were 'all in' and made sacrifices for one another that will never be forgotten. I wish you all the very best of luck for the remainder of the season.”
When asked why he fired Saleh, Johnson said that “ I just felt that the best way to go forward was a new direction. Taking Jeff Ulbrich and making him the intern head coach, I thought that would get the most out of this team and give us the best chance we all want to have, which is going to the playoffs”. Charlie, a student at Harborfields High School said, ”I don't think that it was the right decisions, he was not a bad coach we should have fired the offensive coordinator”. The Jets are 2-4 right now. They are also on a 3 game-losing streak. Was it the right decision? Only time will tell.
