Veteran’s Day
For most people, Veterans Day is just another day to get off from school or work. But this national holiday is important to recognize. Thousands of people risked their lives to protect our country and people in many places.
On Saturday, November 11th, many people in Greenlawn gathered at the Veterans Memorial across the street from Greenlawn Park and listened to a speech from some of the local veterans. Many veterans were at the event showing their support, and remembering some of the fallen soldiers.
Most people know veterans, including Tori Lanner, who said both of her grandfathers are veterans. Members from our very own choir were conducted by Mrs. Jackson to sing the National Anthem and God Bless America — which many people sang along to.
Even in the cold weather, people’s spirits were high. It was great to see such a big turn out in the cold temperatures, and it is even better to see how many people support this country’s veterans.
