The Second Wave in Europe
In recent news, Europe was encountered with its second wave of coronavirus cases. This is something that has been predicted to happen in many peoples heads from the beginning of it all. The death toll that is being publicized is still well below their peak in April, gratefully. Many scientific experts warn civilians that more tragedy is ahead for this coming winter.
Junior Allie Kennedy said, “I'm curious when our second wave will hit.” The idea of this second wave was something I think we all saw coming. Although this second wave has yet to hit The United States, we can all sense it coming. Students are going back into classrooms everyday, work is going back into full run, and people are getting tired of wearing masks.
In good news, the hospitals in Europe are now better prepared for treating mass covid cases. Just like here, social distancing and mask-wearing has become the norm and the latest spread of infection has primarily been in the younger population.
Junior, Mayaa Salzman went on to state that “The younger population is continuing to not social distance.” Luckily, the younger population world-wide is less likely to die if contracting the virus. As this dreadful colder weather approaches, the infection is beginning to spread to the older population. Just like we see everyday, people are growing tired of adhering to these mandatory laws created.
They see wearing a mask as too much of a restriction. Junior Allison brown, stated “There is no possible way of preventing the spread other than following the day to day restrictions, there is no vaccine.”
