Is a Percy Jackson Reboot in the Works?

If you had any childhood at all you probably remember the incredible book series; Percy Jackson. An amazingly well done series filled with the perfect amount of world building, drama, romance, comedy and more! It’s all around a spectacular series for YA Fiction that has forever resonated with its readers. So, reasonably, you can imagine our disappointment when in 2010 the FOREVER HATED Percy Jackson film was released.

So much is wrong with the Percy Jackson films its ridiculous, from age to plot points; literally the entire series was done wrong in the movies. Hollywood really tried to squash a whole five book series into two movies. The results speak for themselves, its fast-paced, not true to the book, and many fans (including myself) like to pretend that it doesn't even exist.

Though our beloved author, Rick Riordian, may be here to save the day. Nearly six years after the last Percy Jackson movie, #disneyadaptpercyjackson started trending unprompted on Twitter. Riordian quickly responded and head off the LA to talk with some “powers-that-be” at Disney to see if he could get this to happen for us. As a fan it feels really great to be heard by the creator of our beloved series. Junior Milena Albertson says, “I was completely in love with this series back in middle school and I’m so excited to see what 2020 brings entertainment wise.”

It’s been two weeks since Riordan has posted about the adaption so it’s clear that nothing is final yet. Though, I hope that in the upcoming year we get the adaption we deserve to the amazing series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians
