Showtime has announced the return of their hit show: ‘Dexter’. The show ended with season 8 back in 2013 but Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. announced on October 14, 2020 the show will be returning for a 10 episode limited series.

‘Dexter’ is a show that began in 2006. It follows main character Dexter Morgan, a blood-splatter analyst for the Miami Police Department by day and serial killer by night. Dexter is a vigilante serial killer, meaning he takes the law into his own hands. He selects his victims based on his “code”, a set of criteria created by his father when he first started showing signs of becoming a serial killer.

Levine and Winograde came out to say, “Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can't wait to shoot it and show it to the world!"

The fans are indeed looking forward to Michael Hall’s return as the beloved Dexter Morgan and Clyde Phillips, a showrunner for the first 4 seasons. Together, Phillips and Hall have worked on a way to bring back Dexter after such a long time.

The show was incredibly successful while on air. It had multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. It won a Peabody Award in 2008 as well. Michael Hall won multiple Emmy nominations for his role on the show.

The show is set to begin production in 2021 and is aiming toward a premiere in the fall of 2021. Season 8 left off with an unknown and unclear ending, causing confusion amongst fans. This reboot with the original actor is very exciting.

There has not been a lot of information released yet but you should catch up on the last 8 seasons, available on Netflix and the Showtime app!
