How to get involved with Safe Halloween

Every year our high school hosts Safe Halloween: a fun night where the younger students in our district can trick-or-treat safely at the high school. Here’s how you can participate in this spooktacular event.

A lot of the clubs and teams at Harborfields participate in Safe Halloween. They decorate the hallways and their assigned classrooms in preparation for the youngsters and their families. Then, they hand out candy to all the trick-or-treaters. Junior Sophia DiPrima says, “I love participating in Safe Halloween with my clubs. It’s one of the many great events held by Harborfields each year!” Ask your coaches or find out if clubs you are members of take part in Safe Halloween in any way.

If you are not on a sports team, or have not joined a club, join a club! You can also come with your friends and support whatever club they are helping out. You can also be a floater and help out as many clubs as you would like.

A great way to get involved is to become a tour guide. Sign up to be a tour guide with the Interact club. You get to take the kids in their costumes and their families on a tour around the high school while they get candy from all the different clubs and teams. You even get to take them through the spooky hallway, if they want.

The kids get to choose if they want to go down the spooky hallway or the safe hallway. Another way you can get involved is by helping out with the spooky hallway. The spooky hallway is like a mini haunted house with jumpscares, creepy decorations, and lots of screams. If you don’t want to scare the kids, just come and help decorate the spooky hallway. The spooky hallway is also run by the Interact club.

Last year, the spooky hallway was real spooky. I should know, I helped out last year in the spooky hallway. It was so scary that it even made some high school students that walked by scream!!! Junior Madelynn Murray says, “The spooky hallway last year was incredible. The scares were over the top and the decorations were amazing!”

Whether you are a new freshman who has never participated in this great event, or even an upperclassman who hasn’t either, come help out! Junior Milena Albertson says, “I haven’t helped out at Safe Halloween yet. But I definitely want to this year. It looks like so much fun!”

This year’s Safe Halloween is on Wednesday, October 30th at 7:00. Hope to see you there!!
