Spooky Season

It’s spooky season here at HF and everyone is preparing for Halloween. Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year. The halls will be filled with Halloween spirit! People are picking out group costumes and getting ready to order or make their costumes. Halloween is the perfect excuse to dress up as your hero or even a taco! Don't be afraid of dressing up in your favorite costume it's your choice!

One of the most exciting parts of this month is that the kids in younger grades will be coming to the school and trick or treating on safe Halloween. Sports teams and Clubs will be giving out candy and it is a great way to get involved. The little kids look up to the high school students that are helping out in this event and it is a great way to set a good example for these kids. When interviewing sophomore, Mackenzie Jones, she said, “Safe Halloween is such a great way to get involved in school, I remember going when I was younger and how exciting it was.”

Halloween is a holiday filled with creativity and fun and many people enjoy letting their imaginations run wild during this time of the year. In addition, to everyone finding the perfect costume, there's so much excitement in looking forward to celebrations and trick or treating. When interviewing Allison Brown, she said, “Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays and I look forward to it every year.” Along with dressing up, everyone is decorating their houses and enjoying Halloween festivities. Halloween allows for people to show their spooky side. People decorate their houses as graveyards and many other spooky things to draw attention to their houses. When interviewing Maya Salzman she said, “Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I love seeing all the decorations!”

But, Halloween is not just a typical holiday. Halloween is not just about collecting candy, it celebrates the lives of people who are not with us anymore.

Some people may ask, Why do people dress up as scary creatures on Halloween? The answer is simple; the people who first started Halloween many years ago believed that if you appear scary, you will scare away the spirits of the dead who were roaming the earth. These people also carried food to the edge of their towns and left it there, in hopes that the spirits would eat that food and not come raid their villages.

It's finally the best time of the year! Don't forget to dress up in your favorite costume on October 31st. Fill the halls with Halloween spirit and have fun with your friends during the spookiest holiday of the year. Don’t forget to go trick or treating your never too old! What’s better than a holiday designed to give people free candy?
