HF Community Summit 2018
As a direct result of the Parkland school shooting, the Harborfields student body will take a stand against gun violence on March 14th. Harborfields high school will be hosting a community summit in which students are permitted to voice their concerns and views on our current gun issue in the United States. The summit seeks to give students a voice on an issue that directly affects us!
The summit will take place of the many literal walkouts many other schools have done and/or are planning. This way, there is a conversation to be had.
Confusion allegedly has occurred since the announcement of this summit. There had been rumors that this summit was just a ploy to avoid students taking a stand and voicing their concern through the walkout. However, according to the hfcommunitysummit2018 instagram page, “it was created by students who want to have a platform to speak out about gun violence…”
A poster has been created to show Harborfields support with the Florida high school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and will be sent there after the summit. To stand in solidarity with them, sign the poster!
The summit will take place at 10am, right after 3rd period. Please wear orange in support of gun violence awareness!
