On January 20th, 2021, a very significant change occurred in America. A new President and Vice President were inaugurated and sworn into office. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris officially received their positions in office, and the Democratic party officially took control of the senate when the final new members, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock were sworn in. The day was filled with inspiration and represents a new era for America.

Even though the disabled community is one of the largest minority groups it is often the most overlooked, and covid-19 has not made it any easier. Distribution of vaccines is still extremely difficult, as distribution is still a major hurdle. Many people believe that certain states will not be fully vaccinated for a year and a half. Senior, Maya Salzman stated that, “Efforts to vaccinate citizens are even slower than the federal government predicted.” Many citizens are scared that when their time comes around to receive the vaccine, the supply will runout.

On Wednesday, January 6th history occurred. Most people would have never guessed they would see a storming of the Capitol building in their lifetime. What many individuals do not know is why it happened and what the significance of the Capitol building being their target was.

When looking into how bad Covid-19 has become, it seems to be gradually getting worse everyday. Will Covid cases increase? This is something we won't know, until the holidays are over and the aftermath of not following the CDC guidelines kicks in. Since almost everyone saw family during the winter recess, how bad it will get will be answered. Many people enjoyed the holidays, and went to their family’s house or stayed home.

It all started last year around February. I remember people on the news and in school talking about a new virus that was deadly and dangerous. Considering the way the news portrayed it, you would've thought we would’ve been scared in January and February, but people didn’t seem too worried. The fear and panic didn’t hit us until March. Students were even hoping we would get closed down for a few weeks… it would be a “vacation” everyone said.

Ever since the Coronavirus started to spread, the people all over the world were promised a vaccine. The only problem was, we didn’t know how long it would take. Finally, after about 9 months of suffering from this virus, vaccines are accessible for people to receive.

As we approach this winter break, this vacation, there are many mixed emotions. A lot of us feel relief. Relief that this exhausting and extremely challenging year has come to an end. Relief that in the face of challenge and hardships we made it through. On the other hand, many of us are scared.
